When the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro were announced, users were promised access to the Google One VPN, for free. The rollout of this has now started and the functionality is also available for Dutch and Belgian users.

Google One VPN on Pixel 7

The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro users can enjoy the latest feature on their Pixel smartphone as of now. With the announcement, it was said that users will be able to use the Google One VPN service free of charge in the future. This is now the case and users in the Netherlands and Belgium can activate the functionality and use it for free. It concerns a period of five years during which the function can be used on the Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro. We recently discussed the latter model extensively in the Pixel 7 Pro review.

To activate the Google One VPN, you can go to the Google One app, which you can download from the Google Play Store, but is probably already installed on your Pixel device. When you open this app, you will see a window to activate the VPN service. There you will also find a switch with which you can quickly turn the option on and off. You can also switch it off for five minutes, for example. In addition, you can manage the VPN service via the settings of your phone.

We hear from various users that they do not immediately see the option to activate the VPN service. It looks like Google is rolling out the feature in phases. It seems to help some users to switch the phone to the English language, then open the Google One app and then activate the VPN, after which you can switch the device back to Dutch.
