The Google Pixel line has always been a little more than just an Android phone. It was (and still is) a solid alternative for apple-eaters who want to try the most common mobile operating system. You get a very clean environment, a simple camera application and also a similar phone size, which is crucial for many Apple users. But Google has forgotten a few things to come up with the Google Pixel 6 series. So does it have a chance to attract even more iPhone users than ever before? We will try to answer this in this article.

Why do apple lovers love the iPhone so much?
Google Pixel 6 will be comparable in specifications to flagships. It will get its own chipset, top displays and speculate on a 50MPx main sensor, which will be a big leap compared to the current 12MPx. But of course the specifications of the apple tree will not convince. If you ask an iPhone user why they won’t try their Android phone, the answer is often the same. They have a perfectly connected ecosystem and the phone just works for them. They do not need to change anything. All they need to do is buy a new iPhone once every few years and they don’t solve anything else. Whatever you think about apple phones, you can’t deny the fact that with their purchase you simply get a functional, very fast and long-supported mobile phone.
Was Pixel the flagship at all?
It should be mentioned that the Pixel series never brought the best performance, design or camera from a hardware point of view (although the main one is very good even after years). And that’s what Pixel 6 is most likely to change. The extravagant design is remembered by everyone, many cameras should perform very well and have their own Tensor chipset. Add a 90 / 120Hz OLED display and you get a real flagship without any compromises.
And this is exactly the thing that could attract apples. Whatever you think about the design of the new Pixels, it cannot be denied that, like the Galaxy S21 Ultra, Huawei P40 / P50 or Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, they are clearly shouting into the world. “I am the best”. And while it’s a little sad, that’s why many iPhone users wear a phone without a case. They just want to brag about the phone to the outside. And none of the previous Pixels were able to offer them that with all due respect.

The fact is that Pixel was also equipped with its own chips in the past. An example is Pixel Visual Core or the newer Pixel Neural Core, which take care of photo enhancements or, for example, voice recognition and subsequent rewriting. But Google has always used the chipset as such from Qualcomm, which does not give it as much freedom as Apple has for its A chipsets. And that is now changing with the Tensor chipset. Let us omit the speculation that this is only a rebranded Exynos. In addition, the American giant should also focus on video quality, where apples are always used to the best. iPhones have long been among the phones with the best video quality, which could now be complicated by Pixel 6.

Another of the many important aspects is the fact that Google (or Rick Osterloh at TheVerge) blew the world a few days ago that it wants to gain a significant market share with its Pixels. When we reviewed Pixel phones some time ago, whether it was model 3a, 4a or 5, we noticed one interesting thing that all models had in common. Whenever we get a new phone for the test, of course we put a SIM card in it and start using it as our main phone, so that we can then describe as much knowledge as possible in the review. Usually, our friends, but also the salesman at the gas station, ask us what’s new, and when we say Samsung, Xiaomi or Huawei, they nod, take it in their hands, whistle the system and the conversation is basically over.
But for Pixels, it’s no wonder that Google makes its own phones. “What do you have?” “Pixel 5, a new model from Google.” “What?! Does Google have a mobile phone? ” “Well, he’s been making his phones for over 10 years. But they are not for sale here, you have to order it from Germany. ” This is what conversations between me and others look like, although how many times are people who are at least somehow interested in phones and how many times they have a flagship, for example, from Samsung.
You must argue now that this is because Google does not sell phones with us. In part, you’re certainly right, but editors abroad have similar experiences, and it’s probably no big secret that Google doesn’t spend a lot of money on Pixel advertising and marketing. And that is about to change now. Pixel 6 is supposed to be something big, as evidenced by the words of Google’s CFO, Ruth Porat. She said that the difference in marketing this year compared to last year will be astronomical, of course, it concerns spending.

To sum it up, this year Google will release a really top phone this year, from which it itself has high expectations. In the past, Pixel was more of a choice for more insiders who were able to appreciate the benefits associated with it. But giants such as Apple, Samsung and Xiaomi should also be worried about Pixel 6. For the former, this is doubly true when he introduces his new phones in a similar period. And if they introduce the phone again with a minimum of changes and a large cutout in the display, it can easily happen that some customers run out of patience and give a chance to the new Pixel.
