After a report of nuisance, the police visited an address in Lelystad. The officers find two parents and their 7-month-old child there. They have a fight with each other and let it be known that they both no longer want to take care of the child.

After an attempt to calm things down and mediate, both parents still indicate that they no longer want to take care of their child. The two officers do not hesitate for a second and take the child to the police station. Community police officer Jurion Veenstra writes in a post on Instagram. ‘With a bottle of milk, a pack of diapers and 10 colleagues with a bleeding heart, we took good care of the child in the few hours that it stayed with us. Very distressing!’

Emotional

Once at the police station, you will immediately contact Safe Home, an advice and reporting center for domestic violence and child abuse. They decide to take the child to a guardian elsewhere in the country. According to the officers, father and mother react emotionally, but they do agree with Safe Home’s decision.

Comments

The police officer’s post gets a lot of responses. Someone responds with: ‘I’m silent about this. What a shit job you have. Hope you are taken care of too. You don’t feel cold when you have to do something like that. Hope for the child that she continues to receive a loving upbringing and people who support her or him.’ Yet another writes: ‘No words for this… but it proves again what the police do for work.’
