Parallels Desktop 17 virtualizes Windows 11 and macOS Monterey

Parallels Desktop 17 is now available for download with the ability to virtualize Windows 11 and macOS Monterey. There are also other novelties in the program of the new version.

What’s New in Parallels Desktop 17 on Mac

With Parallels Desktop 17, users regain the usual performance improvements over the previous version. Here is the detail :

• Up to 38% faster recovery of Windows, Linux and macOS
• Graphics with OpenGL are up to 6 times faster
• 2D graphics up to 25% faster on Windows

There are also improvements specific to Mac M1 (Apple Silicon):

• Windows 10 starts up up to 33% faster on ARM with the preview version
• Up to 20% faster disk performance with Windows 10 on ARM with preview version
• Up to 28% higher graphics performance with DirectX 11

Regarding Macs with an Intel processor, they have up to 60% faster network connection in a virtual machine under macOS Big Sur (and newer). Note also that all Macs benefit from an improvement in the general use of Windows with Parallels Desktop 17 using smoother animations. This is possible thanks to a new pilot.

As said before, the big point of Parallels Desktop 17 is the support of macOS Monterey (both on the Mac and as a virtual machine) and Windows 11. Besides, users can activate Trusted Platform Modules (TPM) in order to to have BitLocker and Secure Boot.
