OV-Chipkaart app can no longer be used
Without further announcement, Translink, the company behind the OV-Chipkaart, has taken the official application for viewing the travel data offline. The OV-Chipkaart app can no longer be used.
End for OV-Chipkaart app
Translink has discontinued the official OV-Chipkaart app without further notice. The current application can no longer be used, nor can it be downloaded from the Google Play Store. TLS, which stands for Translink Systems, has taken the app off the air from users in recent days, where users see a notification, but no longer have access to their travel data.
According to the notification that can be seen in the app, a new OV-Chipkaart app is in development. In the meantime, travel details can be consulted via the OV-Chipkaart.nl website. According to Translink, the disappearance of the OV-Chipkaart app also has to do with the successor of the chip card; OVpay. OVpay should make it possible to check in on public transport with a bank card. This new way of paying in public transport is being tested and will be introduced in the Netherlands between now and 2023.
