Nothing Phone (1): Our first impression
Updated July 25, 2022: We have now also received the Nothing Phone (1). You can see our first impression of it in the video above.
Original article:
OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei is back with a new smartphone. Even though the Nothing Phone (1) hasn’t been released yet, there are already first opinions on the mobile phone to disposal. Among others, The Verge, Android Authority and the well-known tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee took a closer look at the smartphone.
Noisy The Verge are the lights called “Glyphs” on the back of the smartphone more than just a gimmick. The system for notifications should also make sense in everyday life. The OLED screen also appealed to testers, as did the promise that Nothing will be rolling out four years of security updates.
On the other side is the Battery life of the Nothing Phone (1) “just okay”as well as The Verge Android Authority observed. Further criticism relates to the cell phone’s cameras. The testers hardly think anything of the ultra-wide camera. Videos can only be created at 30 frames per second at 4K resolution.
With the Nothing Ear (1), there are already headphones from the manufacturer:
Marques Brownlee according to that Display pretty well done. The integrated fingerprint scanner is “not annoying” and the refresh rate can change dynamically between 60 and 120 Hz, which is not the case with all phones in this price range. Among other things, he criticizes that the smartphone will not appear in the USA. He also noticed the IP53 certification negatively.
Is the Nothing Phone (1) worth it?
We will decide whether the Nothing Phone (1) is worth buying clarify at GIGA after their own test. What is certain is that of course no miracles are to be expected from a mobile phone that is sold for 469 euros. The deliberate shortage of availability – the smartphone is only available by invitation – should discourage some interested parties from buying it.
