Original Angry Birds is back in the Play Store
Rovio’s original Angry Birds game is back on the Play Store. Thanks to the many spin-offs and popular successor you may have missed it, but it was not available in the Play Store for years. Now Rovio is bringing the game back to Android (and iOS).
Angry Birds
Angry Birds is a mobile game series in which you have to throw birds against a tower of wood and pigs using a slingshot, with the aim of exterminating all the pigs. It’s a funny game with cheerful colors, a cartoonish style and it already managed to attract a large audience in the early years of smartphones.
Angry Birds is almost ten years old (!) and to celebrate, Rovio has brought the original game back to the Play Store. Initially, it disappeared in 2019 after the studio said it needed to do some testing, but in the end the game didn’t come back at all. Until now.
No in-app purchases
The game costs 0.99 euros, but has the advantage that it does not come with in-game purchases. So you pay 1 euro and can then play as much as you want, without having to buy free power-ups. Very useful for people with children, because the game with the angry birds is especially popular with this target group.
It is a remaster of the original and you can find it under the name Rovio Classics: Angry Birds. That remaster is mainly because the game now runs on a different engine: not the base developed by Rovio, but the Unity engine, which is used for many games. It hopes to create a more sustainable environment that will allow the game to continue for years to come.
You do need a phone on Android 6.0 or higher to play the golden old Angry Birds.
