OPPO Reno10 is coming to Europe: with a focus on photography
OPPO has announced its Reno10 smartphones. Reno10 previously appeared in India, but now the device line is also coming to the Netherlands and Belgium: the regular Reno10 and the Reno10 Pro. The most special thing about the devices are again the photography options.

OPPO Reno10
While the popularity of OPPO in Europe is still in its infancy, the brand is number 1 in China. So it’s time for the brand to gain a foothold here, although it is also rumored that OPPO would leave the Netherlands. So far, OPPO contradicts this and says it will certainly remain focused on Europe. Is Reno10 proof of that? The smartphone comes in a standard and a Pro version.
Both devices are very thin at 7.89 millimeters (and light: 185 grams). They come with a 6.7 inch screen that can refresh at 120 Hz. Reno10 comes with 8 GB of RAM that is virtually expandable with an extra 12 GB (by converting the storage memory to RAM). The storage memory of the device is 256 GB. The same applies to the Pro, although it has 12 GB of RAM as standard, so you can add another 12 GB. Reno10 has a Mediatek 7050 processor and Reno10 Pro works with a Snapdragon 788G. The Reno10 has a 5,000 mAh battery that charges to 100 percent in 47 minutes. The Pro has a 4,600 mAh battery, which is slightly smaller because, according to OPPO, it charges faster: it goes from 0 to 100 percent in 28 minutes (and at 80 watts).

Focus on portrait shots
Where the new function bokeh flare portrait video was added in 2021 and later the ultra clear night portrait, Reno10 has a fairly large lens: a 47 mm lens. According to OPPO, it’s good to be as close to 50 millimeters as possible, because that would be perfect for portrait shots and landscape shots. A face smaller than 50 millimeters would be distorted, but larger would mean that your face becomes much more convex. 50 millimeters would be more as the human eye sees it and that would make the portrait photo more realistic.
Pro portrait mode should take care of that: “With portrait mode, users now have access to a new 2X focal length offered by the telephoto portrait camera, in addition to the ability to change the aperture setting to any value between f1.4 and f16. With these adjustable settings, the bokeh effects can be fine-tuned to create completely unique portrait styles with beautiful depth-of-field effects, while images remain natural and lifelike.”
The regular Reno10 packs a 64-megapixel main camera, a 32-megapixel IMX709 telephoto portrait camera, and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, while the Pro features a 50-megapixel IMX890 main camera, a 32-megapixel IMX709 telephoto portrait camera, and an 8-megapixel 112-degree ultra-wide-angle camera. 2x optical zoom is provided for even better zoomed photos.
Telephoto camera
Oppo: “If the user wants to take a picture of a friend in a crowd or against a complex background, the telephoto camera can be used to pull the subject of the picture forward and make it stand out as the clear focus of the camera. Framing the shot at the professional portrait focal lengths also allows users to visually compress the space and enlarge the landscape in the distance. That helps to draw attention to both subject and background.”
The normal Reno10 has a 32 megapixel selfie camera, but Reno10 Pro comes with a 32 megapixel telephoto portrait camera with Sony IMX709 RGBW sensor and autofocus, so you no longer have to tap your screen to set the focus properly. Also good to know: both devices have an IP rating of IPX4.
Update Policy
The phones run on ColorOS 13.1 (based on Android 13), but are only provided with 2 operating system upgrades, so to Android 14 and to Android 15. Security updates are also disappointing: after 3 years you no longer have to count on up-to-date security.
