OPPO continues to innovate. It introduced new technologies to improve cameras

The Chinese OPPO producer is clearly not afraid of progress and new technologies. At the Future Imaging Technology Launch Event 2021, he introduced several innovations that will take smartphone photography to the next level. These include a new RGBW sensor, a sensor with a continuous optical zoom, five-axis optical stabilization and improved selfie cameras under the display.

RGBW sensor

What was the first company to introduce a new generation of RGBW sensors, which according to it can capture up to 60% more light and 35% less noise compared to previous generation RGBW sensors. The sensor will achieve such an improvement thanks to the introduction of additional white subpixels (W), DTI technology and its own 4-in-1 pixel algorithm. The company plans to introduce the first devices with a new sensor in the fourth quarter of this year.

The manufacturer also introduced technology to eliminate the problems that arise when switching between a conventional sensor and a telephoto lens, such as the obvious “jumping” between sensors or differences in white balance. It is a sensor with a continuous optical zoom in the range of 85-200 mm, which will work on the basis of new technology of the moving mechanism. This brings the experience of shooting with a smartphone closer to shooting with a professional camera.

Five-axis optical stabilization (OIS)

A novelty from OPPO is also five-axis optical stabilization. It offers a maximum stabilization angle of ± 3 ° and the sensor can also be moved with an accuracy of 2 μm. Better image stabilization in practice will bring sharper night photos captured without a tripod or better stabilized videos. We should encounter this technology for the first time in the first quarter of 2022.

A new generation of selfie cameras under the display

Finally, the manufacturer introduced enhanced under-screen selfie camera technology, which will allow the under-camera camera to capture high-quality photos with a resolution of 400 PPI. New algorithms will also help the sensor at work.
