With the OLED switch, Nintendo has been offering a kind of premium version of the successful handheld for over a year and a half. But it’s not only different in terms of hardware – there is also a special setting in the options menu that is missing in all other models.

Vivid colors are only available with the OLED switch

A larger display, an OLED panel, a better kickstand, a LAN port integrated directly into the dock, slightly improved speakers – Nintendo has made various improvements to the OLED switch to justify the higher purchase price of currently 333 euros .

But what many Switch owners may not have noticed until today: There is another difference – namely in the system software of the consoles. Because only on the OLED switch will players find a setting with the name “Console Screen Color Intensity” Before. There, buyers of the OLED switch can choose between the options “Lively” and “Standard”. The vivid color intensity is preset.

This is how you can find the option in the settings of your OLED switch:

• From the Nintendo Switch dashboard, select this gear icon to go to the settings.
• Scroll down until you get to the point “Console” comes.
• There you will find the submenu “Console Screen Color Intensity”where you can switch between the two options.

What brings the exclusive screen mode of the OLED switch?

The vivid color intensity setting ensures that the integrated display of your OLED switch shows the colors somewhat more saturated. They appear more radiant and thus catch your eye a little more. Most people prefer this flashier style of presentation. Many modern smartphone displays rely on a similar effect.

What many players forget, however, is that those who choose lively mode reduces the color accuracy of the displayed screen content. These may look better subjectively, but they are less like the original. However, if you don’t mind that, you can continue to use the exclusive lively screen mode of your OLED switch without any worries.

Final note: The option only affects the color intensity of the Switch’s OLED display. If the console is connected to a monitor or television via a dock, changing the settings has no effect on the display on the connected playback device.
