Online Apple Store has a completely new design
There was a moment of panic in Apple land, because suddenly the Apple Store went offline. Normally that means new products are coming, but this time it’s different. Apple has revamped the entire online Apple Store.

The new online Apple Store
The Apple online store now has a dedicated tab in the black bar at the top of the website. If you choose ‘Store’ there, you will go to the completely renovated store.
In terms of design, it is somewhat reminiscent of the App Store on the Mac, iPhone and iPad. There are ‘cards’ with articles about products or special promotions (just like the stories about apps in the App Store). At the top of the site you will find the most important products from Apple, such as the iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple Watch.
If you choose one of these main categories, you will go to a concise subpage with all models. If you tap on such a model, you open the product page of the selected device. All in all, it has become much clearer than before.
This is how the design used to be
When you redesign a website, you usually ask yourself: what did it look like before? Previously, you could only find the purchase pages in the online Apple Store from the product categories on the website. These options are still there, by the way.
So at first you could only navigate to iPhone and choose an iPhone 12 there, for example. You will then arrive at a descriptive page. If you want to buy the device, you have a blue ‘Buy’ button at the top right. This will take you to the product page in the shop. In fact, Apple’s entire website was ‘the shop’, but that didn’t make it particularly user-friendly. Now that there’s a dedicated shop page again, it’s much more logical.
By the way, we’re actually back to square one. A few years ago there was already a clear separation on the Apple website between the online store section and the product pages. Why Apple changed that then is not clear.
