one third of readers thinks cameras on the phone are the most important
Our smartphones are increasingly taking over from other things in our lives. A mirror? Smartphone. A debit card? Smartphone. A photo camera? Smartphone. But, is the latter really true? In our poll, we asked Androidworld readers how important they think the cameras on their phone are.
Pictures of kids and kittens
You used to only take a camera with you when you went to a party or on vacation, but since we have social media in our lives, taking pictures has suddenly become a lot more popular. We take pictures of our food, of our kid who made a drawing and don’t forget the videos of crazy cats and dancing nieces. The camera on our phone has started to play an increasingly important role, but how big is that role?
Judging by what our readers are saying, that camera is definitely an important factor. 35 percent even consider it the most important, which implies that WhatsApp, Facebook and – we would almost forget to call, for example – are considered less important. 24 percent disagree: they believe that the cameras on a phone are less important than other features. 38 percent are in the middle: they think the cameras are just as important as other features.
Many pictures
Only 1 percent have a different opinion. The comments show that Cyclon is surprised about the camera focus of other readers: “Apparently a lot of photographers who vote. Never even taken a selfie myself.” Still, many readers indicate in the response that the camera is an afterthought.
Tukker secretly even has the best of both worlds. For example, he says: “For me, only the speed, software and screen size are important, the camera is an afterthought. My wife takes the pictures so I bought her a Pixel, she doesn’t care about the rest. 😃” Fortunately, the Pixel can do much more than just take great photos.
Camera is important
It seems that we think the camera is very important, but we still buy a smartphone with a camera instead of a camera with smartphone functions. Or actually we should say cameras, because in 2021 it is a challenge to find a smartphone that is only equipped with one camera.
