One Piece: mangaka Eiichirō Oda promises Netflix’s live-action adaptation will deliver

So far, one cannot really say that the adaptations live action of famous manga/anime have lived up to expectations. The series netflix Death Note Or cowboy bebop are closer to the nanar than to the masterpiece, a cruel observation that inevitably makes One Piece fans a little nervous about the series in production. Ultra popular manga (and at the top of sales in France) One Piece is an abundant and at the same time barred work, a type of manga a priori particularly complicated to adapt in series with flesh and blood actors.

There would however be no fears according to Eiichirō Oda, the illustrious mangaka at the origin of One Piece. The latter admits, in a press release published on the Netflix France Twitter account, to have questioned the feasibility of such an adaptation outside the borders of Japan:“Is production abroad really feasible? » The mangaka then reaffirms his will to want to supervise the realization of the project, as long as his health allows him. One sentence in particular is likely to reassure One Piece fans a lot: “Since then, Netflix has invested huge resources in production. The series was announced for 2023, but the team promised me that it won’t launch until I’m fully satisfied with it. » As a reminder, the adaptation project was officially announced in 2020. The live action series One Piece is still scheduled for this year on the Netflix platform.
