The Xiaomi 13 series has gained a big, strong brother: the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. This high-end smartphone with 1-inch camera sensor has been announced for the Chinese market and global launch will follow later.

Xiaomi 13 Ultra has top specifications

Xiaomi’s Ultra series is known for its strong camera hardware and the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is no exception. The camera module on the back is made possible by Leica and the 50 MP IMX 989 main camera with variable aperture immediately stands out.

The Sony IMX 989 is a 1 inch camera sensor and it has a larger surface area than any other camera now used in premium smartphones. Such a large sensor surface can collect more light and that ensures better photos, especially in dark lighting conditions. The Sony Xperia Pro-I and Xiaomi 13 Pro have such a large 1-inch camera on the back and now the Xiaomi 13 Ultra follows.

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra also has a periscope camera (IMX858) to zoom in. That is possible up to 5x with optical zoom. This periscope camera is accompanied by another IMX858 zoom lens to bring objects closer. There is also a 50 MP IMX858 wide-angle camera.

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra has a 6.73-inch 120Hz QHD+ AMOLED. The flagship runs on the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor along with with 12 GB or 16 GB RAM and 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB UFS 4.0 storage. The 5000 mAh battery charges the Ultra with a 90W cable. 50W wireless charging is also possible. The charging port has also been upgraded to USB 3.2. That enables transfer rates of 5 Gbps over USB-C.

Xiaomi 13 Ultra prices and availability

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is available in black, olive green and white with a synthetic leather finish. The phone is expected to be announced worldwide with a price tag of 1,299 euros. That does not seem plausible to us because the Xiaomi 13 Pro also costs 1,299 euros. Xiaomi is not giving any details about the launch of the Ultra outside of China.
