one knob for volume (and new mute switch)

There are more and more rumors about the design of the iPhone 15 Pro. According to the latest reports, the iPhone 15 Pro will only have one volume button. In addition, there will also be some changes at the mute switch.

Read on after the ad.

iPhone 15 Pro gets one volume button

According to the rumor mill, we already know that Apple will work on the design of the iPhone 15. The iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max will have thinner screen edges, but the buttons will also change slightly.

YouTuber ZoneOfTech says on Twitter that Apple usually uses two pins per button. Renders of the regular iPhone 15 show that there are four pins (two per button). With the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max, there are only two with a longer button.

According to ZoneOfTech, the iPhone 15 Pro (Max) will therefore have one large volume button. You can then turn the sound up and down with the same button. A funny detail here is that the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3GS already had one button for the volume. This was replaced in the iPhone 4 for two round buttons.

Something will also change with the mute button (Apple calls this the ring signal switch). According to ZoneOfTech, this switch will also be replaced by a button.

iPhone 15 Pro: no more real buttons

Apple expert Ming-Chi Kuo said earlier that the iPhone 15 Pro will no longer have real buttons. You still ‘feel’ that you are pressing something that looks like a button, but nothing actually moves.

The iPhone 15 Pro (Max) then uses special vibration motors to give you the feeling that you are pressing something. Apple also did this with the home button of the iPhone 7, iPhone 8, iPhone SE 2020 and iPhone SE 2022. And you also see it with the trackpad of the MacBook Air 2022, among others.
