“On his birthday I decided to leave him”

A man who can’t get ahead and doesn’t stick out a leg or a drunk girlfriend who turns the birthday upside down, one thing is certain: it was a day to remember.

Maud (36): “We had been together for twelve years, so of course I knew that decisiveness was not my husband’s strong suit. When I met him he had already switched studies three times and at thirty he was still broke because he preferred to spend his money on joints and the pub rather than building our family life.

Cancel

When our sons – now five and three – arrived and he still didn’t contribute anything in terms of income, household or education, my annoyance reached the peak. This would never work. While I dragged the groceries into the house for his 36th birthday after a week of full-time work on Saturday, he slept off his intoxication. The breakfast set was still on the counter, the children were playing at his feet.

“I quit”

Suddenly I was done. “I’m quitting,” I said. While the boys knew nothing, I canceled the party and arranged a place to stay for my husband with friends. I’ve been single for a year and a half and to be honest: I don’t notice the slightest difference.”

Nice to have you here too

Imanda (41): “For my best friend’s 40th birthday, we planned a photo shoot with the year club. Professional photographer hired, props to dress up her house, everyone in new, appropriate outfits. We even recruited a nanny to keep our children – between the ages of two and ten – entertained for quite a few hours.

It was Saturday afternoon, there were snacks, the wine flowed freely: all the ingredients for an unforgettable party, with ditto mementos. The star of the show – our girlfriend – was in seventh heaven. At the first part of the shoot – a bacchanal inspired by The last Supper by photographer Jordi Gomez – one of our girlfriends suddenly disappeared. In no fields or roads to be seen. Well, we thought, we’ll do that recording without her.

“We collectively have a hangover from the whole party thanks to her”

Fortunately, she reappeared in the second part, one-on-one photos in different compositions. She only turned out to be so drunk that her smeared lipstick and drunk behavior disrupted the entire shoot. The final result of the photos was still beautiful, but none of us have ever framed one of them. Thanks to her, we collectively have a hangover from the whole party.”
