O2 covered other areas with a 4G signal. The operator kept the promises he made
The last municipality on the list of 511 white spaces that the operator voluntarily undertook to cover high-speed internet was Príkra. This fulfilled the Memorandum of Cooperation, which O2 and other operators signed with the state in 2018.
“Under the said Memorandum, we have covered up to 511 municipalities on the white space list beyond our commercial plans and at our own expense. We fulfilled what we committed to in 2019. The exception was the last village Príkra, which we joined in the summer of this year, and from December 1 we put into operation a new 2G / 4G transmitter high 40 in this locality. meters, thanks to which the neighboring municipalities Bodružal, Nižný Komárnik and Krajná Bystrá will also gain access to services. “

Construction of networks in O2
The operator currently covers a 4G network with 97.4% of the population of Slovakia. The basic 2G signal is available to more than 99.7% of the population and the operator is currently focusing on the new 5G network, which it currently provides in 15 locations in Slovakia.
“Although high-quality telecommunications networks bring undeniable benefits to the people of the countries in the 21st century, which has proved especially during the ongoing pandemic, the construction of new transmitters is not always easy. We consider the main obstacles to building networks to be the administrative complexity of permitting processes, together with the high complexity of finding network-sharing agreements. However, we also face the problem that almost everyone is interested in a quality signal, but at the same time the transmitter in their surroundings does not welcome with enthusiasm. Last but not least, one of the biggest obstacles at present is the reluctance of self-governing building authorities to look for flexible solutions for building new transmitters. Given our service to the public, as well as the fact that we bring networks to economically unattractive destinations, we would expect a helping hand from the state in the form of public awareness of the benefits of electronic communications networks, and especially in simplifying the bureaucratic processes that are associated with the authorization of network construction. “
