Nvidia Shield TV: update 9.1.1 fixes lots of bugs

Nvidia offers update 9.1.1 for its Shield TV, it fixes many bugs encountered by users. There are also improvements.

Here is the list of Shield TV improvements with the 9.1.1 update according to Nvidia:

  • Adds a power control option to wake up the Shield when the TV input changes to the Shield.
  • Add dev option to force low latency mode for Dolby Vision if available.
  • Activation if Dolby Vision is not correctly detected on some Philips TVs
  • Resolves issues with large SMB file transfers disconnecting by disabling anonymous access by antivirus.
  • Added dev option to improve HDMI-CEC volume control for soundbars.
  • General cleanup and reorganization of developer options

And here is the list of the various fixes:

ShieldTV app

  • [Android uniquement] Fixes the issue where the Shield TV app would not launch properly on some Samsung Galaxy phones.

Video/display

  • Fixed a bug where protected content would not play if external storage was connected.
  • Fixed a color accuracy bug when the “Rec .709 default for HD videos” develop option was enabled.
  • Fixed an issue where autoplay mode was enabled on Nvidia games even though it was disabled.
  • [Shield TV 2019] Fixes the issue of video crashing when searching in rapid succession when Dolby audio processing was enabled.

Audio

  • [Shield TV 2019] Fixes issue where audio was not present until reboot when Dolby audio processing was enabled.
  • [Shield TV 2019] Resolves issue where audio would play at an accelerated speed when Dolby audio processing was enabled.

Storage

  • Fixed a bug where files were not detected correctly on connected removable storage.
  • Fixed a bug when mounting a NAS using IP addresses for accounts with empty passwords.

Accessories

  • Fixes issue where simplified wake up buttons would not turn on infrared controlled TVs.
  • Resolves issue where Shield would not respond to Bluetooth devices for up to 60 seconds after startup.
  • [Shield 2015/2017] Resolves MX Master 3 Bluetooth mouse pairing issue.
  • Fixes issue where the TV remote would not control the Shield 30 seconds after waking from sleep.
  • Resolves some issues where CEC volume control was not working properly on audio/video receivers or soundbars.
  • Fixes issue where Control4 systems would not wake up the Shield if the systems were turned off while the screen saver was active.

Others

  • Fixes issues where the UI would display in low resolution for a split second.
  • Fixed a bug where the user had to select a home app when setting up the Shield after a factory reset or system update
  • The “Enable Dolby Vision” notification will be removed after being dismissed.
  • Fixed a bug where region-specific apps were not visible after being disabled.
  • Fixed a bug where the microphone notification was displayed when activating the “OK Google” keyword.

The update is available to download now for 2015, 2017, and 2019 Shield TVs.
