NS is launching the Tasty Road app: saving free products

The Dutch Railways (NS) has launched the Tasty Road app. This app should make saving free products at the various shops of the railway company easier and more sustainable.

Nice on the go

You can save for free products at various NS shops. Think of a free croissant at Kiosk, a freshly made sandwich from the Stations Huiskamer or a hot drink of your choice at Julia’s. For this you need a full savings card consisting of six savings stamps. This full savings card is now still a paper card. To make it easier and more sustainable, the NS is now introducing an app that contains digital savings cards.

This is how the app works

The app – called Lekker Weg – can be found in Apple’s Play Store and App Store and is free to use. The app is very simple to use. You only have to open it, select the desired store formula and have the QR code scanned in the app when paying for one or more products.

You need six savings stamps to get the seventh selected product for free. These six savings stamps represent six purchases of the product for which you are saving. Example: you save at Kiosk for a free croissant, which you get when you have bought six croissants. The seventh will then be free. With every croissant you buy you will receive a savings stamp. All this can be done in one transaction or in several.

Clear and no account required

In the app you can also view how many savings stamps you already have. When showing a full savings card you will receive the free product for which you have saved. The app works completely anonymously, you don’t have to create an account. This is nice, although it is a pity that the savings stamps disappear when you have a new phone on which you have to install the app (again).

The Kiosk, Stations Huiskamer and Julia’s retail formulas are currently taking part in the ‘promotion’. It is not yet known whether other NS retail formulas will also be added at a later date and whether this will also make it possible to save for a free noodle slice at Smullers. This is ardently hoped for by a number of members of the editorial team. Do you still have a paper savings card? Slide can be submitted until December 31, 2023.
