‘Not one, not two, but three Apple Watch models in 2022’
The lineup of the Apple Watch is getting more and more extensive. According to a renowned analyst, Apple plans to release three versions by 2022: the Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch SE and a rugged version for athletes.

Three Apple Watch models in 2022
Usually, Apple comes out with one new version of its smartwatch in a calendar year. In 2021 that was the Apple Watch Series 7. But in 2022 Apple will probably release three Apple Watch models, reports Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
The new Apple Watch in 2022 will be an Apple Watch Series 8, the new Apple Watch SE and an extreme sports version. Kuo is almost always right in his predictions, so chances are his statements are correct.
Apple Watch for athletes
Kuo’s prediction is in line with Mark Gurman’s from Bloomberg, another reliable Apple insider. He made similar statements earlier this week. In addition to the Series 8 and SE, there will be an Apple Watch that is aimed at avid athletes, according to Gurman.
Kuo will not provide more details about the Apple Watch models from 2022. Mark Gurman previously reported that the Apple Watch for athletes is a robust design. This makes the smartwatch more suitable to take with you during your skiing and snowboarding activities, or other sports where the smartwatch could use some extra protection.
Series 8 and SE
Little is known about the Apple Watch Series 8. There have been rumors that Apple is adding new health features, including a sensor to measure your blood sugar.
The new Apple Watch SE will look a lot like the Series 8, but be a lot more affordable. To keep the price tag low, it lacks some features. For example, the current SE has to do without the Always On screen, ECG app and Saturation app.
