no support iOS 16 for iPhone 6s (Plus) and iPhone SE
Apple is known for years of software updates, but everything comes to an end. The iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus and the original iPhone SE will not receive support for iOS 16, according to a new rumor.
Read on after the ad.
No iOS 16 support for iPhone 6S and SE
According to the French website iPhoneSoft the end is near for the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus and the first iPhone SE. These smartphones would not receive support for iOS 16 next year. So they will probably be stuck on iOS 15. That’s no shame, because the iPhone 6 series dates back to 2015. The iPhone SE followed in 2016. The phones were running at launch. on iOS 9 and thus received six major iOS updates.
The iPhone 7 and newer could run on iOS 16. Apple will launch the latest version of the operating system during WWDC 2022. That’s the annual developer conference, which is likely to take place in June next year.
Apple has been supporting its smartphones for a lot longer than most Android manufacturers. Even if the models mentioned will no longer receive official iOS updates, they will probably receive security patches for years to come. With that, you can continue to use the phones without worrying about hackers.
Various iPads are also dying
There are also casualties in the iPad area. The ancient iPad Air 2 from 2014 would no longer receive support for iPadOS 16. The iPad Pro from 2015, the iPad 2017 and the iPad mini 4 are also likely to be dropped. It therefore seems that iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 require at least an A10 chip.
Apart from support, we don’t know much about iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 yet. Do you want to stay informed of all the news about the new software? Please sign up for our daily/weekly newsletter. In addition, download the free iPhoned app and keep an eye on our website.
