No more unsuccessful calls. Google Meet has introduced a handy innovation
How many times have you joined the meeting with with the microphone muted, broken camera or the wrong speakerwhich echoed the whole call. A problem that is more than current today. Both school and work, even entertainment, have moved into the online space, where we see each other only through displays. Google wants to reduce all “fails”which commonly occur during calls. Google Meet will check the audio / video before joining the call. The so-called Green room, which you will find in Google Meet. With this new feature, you can verify that the peripherals are properly configured and ready for the call. In addition, Google Meet will check your network connection, which is always useful.
The green room in Google Meet was in some way already before the new update. But it was just a matter of checking your video and the sound coming into the headphones, but you couldn’t check your own microphone. Switching between microphones / cameras was extra awkwardly hidden in the settings. How does the novelty in the application actually work?
After entering the code to join the call, your preview will appear. You will come across a new icon in the lower left corner“Check audio and video”. After clicking on it, a new Green room will appear, which has been missing in Google Meet for so long. In the Green room you will see announcement of the video and you can easily switch between microphones / audio / cameras. Google Meet then checks the audio / video before connecting to the prepared video. After setting up the peripherals, the user records a short video in which the microphone and image are recorded. The video will not be saved anywhere, you will watch it, and if everything is as it should be, you can join the call right away.
