Rumor: iOS 15 passes iPhone 6S and iPhone SE
The rumor comes from iPhoneSoft. The website claims that the A9 chip of the three devices cannot handle the latest iPhone software version. Apple would therefore choose to stop support this year. The devices may therefore continue to choose iOS 14, the software version of 2020.
These iPhones would get an update to iOS 15:
It is not the first time we have heard that the iPhone 6S (Plus) and first iPhone SE are not being updated to iOS 15. Last November, the Israeli website spread The Verifier namely already the same message.
iOS 15 will likely be announced in June at WWDC, Apple’s annual app developer conference. The company therefore always announces which iPhones can expect the new update. The new software will then be available by the end of the year, when the new iPhones are also released.
End is approaching for iPhone SE and iPhone 6S
The iPhone SE and iPhone 6S (Plus) are no longer the youngest. The former was released in 2016, the 6S was released a year earlier. All three devices have an A9 chip. According to iPhoneSoft, this processor is too outdated to receive a new iOS update. The iPhone 12, released in 2020, is powered by an A14 chip.
