NIPT test will be free for all pregnant women next year
The NIPT test will now cost you 175 euros, but from April 2023 it will be free for all pregnant women. This was announced by the Minister of Health, Ernst Kuipers.
With this prenatal test you can check whether your unborn baby has Edwards, Patau or Down syndrome.

There are still a lot of practical things that need to be arranged. For example, RIVM has completed the tender process with the laboratories that will carry out the studies, but the arrangements for the equipment, among other things, still need to be worked out. Medics are also looking at the way in which pregnant women are informed if the research reveals a different abnormality than the three syndromes that the NIPT focuses on. He must ask for that. In 2020, the Health Council recommended only reporting such findings if they are ‘clinically relevant and serious’.
