Terrible news for Cristiano Ronaldo and his girlfriend Georgina Rodríguez: their newborn son has died. His twin sister was born healthy.

“It is with great sadness that we have to inform you that our son has passed away,” they write. “This is the greatest pain you can feel as a parent. Only the birth of our daughter gives us strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for their care and support. We are heartbroken at this loss and ask for privacy at this difficult time. Our baby, you are our angel. We love you forever.”

The couple announced in October last year that they were expecting twins. Four years earlier, Cristiano had a daughter with Georgina: Alana. The footballer is also the father of twins Ava and Mateo (4) and Cristiano Junior (11).
