Spy/Master (S01E01-E02)

Created by Adina Sădeanu and Kirsten Peters, PY/MASTER is set during the height of the Cold War. The espionage series covers a week in the life of the fictional character Victor Godeanu, played by Alec Secăreanu (God’s Own Country, Ammonite, Happy Valley), the right-hand man and close adviser to Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu. However, Godeanu is also a secret agent for the KGB and must flee Romania and Ceaușescu before he is discovered. With only one chance to stay alive, he uses a diplomatic trip to Germany as a springboard to the United States. Aided by an undercover Stasi agent and former flame (Svenja Jung, Deutschland89) and a rising CIA agent (Parker Sawyers, Southside with You), Godeanu must escape the KGB and his own country’s spies (Ana Ularu and Laurențiu Bănescu ), knowing that his desertion will put his family in mortal danger.
