Family Guy (S19)
Family Guy is an American animated series about a dysfunctional family in the fictional town of Quahog. The series has been created by Seth MacFarlane for FOX since 1999. Production was halted in 2002, but due to positive response to the DVD and reruns, new episodes have been produced since 2005. The series has been broadcast in the Netherlands since September 17, 2007 by Comedy Central. The series was previously broadcast on NET 5. Family Guy has become one of the most popular adult animated series in recent years, both in America and around the world. The series has been nominated thirteen times for an Emmy Award, four of which have been cashed in. Following the success of Family Guy, it gave way to two related series: American Dad! and The Cleveland Show. Despite this success, Family Guy is regularly the target of controversy and criticism for its lack of morality, quality and originality. The dark humor of the series is often criticized by social conservatives who reject the sexual, violent and racial humor. It was also often accused of plagiarizing The Simpsons in its early years, although spiritual father Matt Groening denied having a serious feud. South Park’s Trey Parker and Matt Stone criticized the series’ humor, and The Ren & Stimpy Show’s John Kricfalusi criticized the simplistic animation, which would negatively affect young animators.
