New Spider-Man series is running at the competition

Spider-Man is getting a new live-action adaptation right away as a series. But it doesn’t run on Disney+, but on the competition from Amazon Prime Video. But that’s not the only surprise, because this Spider-Man may appear a little deliberately “colorless”, but it’s a sly old dog.

Like the industry magazine Variety reported that Sony and MGM (now known to belong to Amazon) are working on one new Spider-Man live-action series. It should run on Amazon Prime Video in the future, Disney + can only watch and will be outdone. After all, Sony can and is allowed to do whatever they want with Spider-Man – thanks to the licensing rights. Since Sony does not operate its own streaming service, a cooperation with Amazon is certainly a sensible option.

Not on Disney+: Spider-Man Noir is coming to Amazon Prime Video

The focus of the series is the originating from a black and white reality Spider-Man Noir, an aged hero. The series is said to be set in New York City in the 1930s. However, Peter Parker will not hide in the costume. A completely new universe is created with no direct connection to the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), but also not to Sony’s “A New Universe”. Spider-Man Noir already had an animated appearance in it and, as is well known, was spoken by Nicolas Cage in the original. Of course, fans are now hoping for a commitment from the cult actor, but this has neither been confirmed nor officially discussed.

Spider-Man’s last live-action appearance was in the MCU:

Spider-Man: No Way Home – Trailer 2 German

In contrast, Phil Lord, Chris Miller and the current Spider-Man manager at Sony Amy Pascal are the drivers of the new series. The first two are also the producers of the animated Spider-Man universe. Oren Uziel will develop and executive produce the Spider-Man Noir series. We know his scripts, for example, from “22 Jump Street” or most recently from “The Lost City – The Secret of the Lost City”.

Hopefully nothing for children

Important to know: The substance of Spider-Man Noir is much darker and brutal than the Spider-Man last seen in the MCU. A version for adults, if you will, and not necessarily for children. With a bit of luck, we’ll finally get a not necessarily adult version of Spider-Man.
