New movies and series on Disney+ in May 2023

Disney, what millennial hasn’t grown up with it? On this streaming service you will find all well-known Disney films, from Aladdin to Frozen. But Disney+ is more than just classic Disney content. There is therefore a plus behind it for a reason. The Disney banner also includes Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic.

With a Disney+ subscription you can stream unlimited movies and series. You can choose between paying monthly (€9.99) or annually at a 15% discount. Below are three new releases for Disney+ in May that we think are worth checking out.

Star Wars Visions is an anthology series in which various animation studios take you into their view of Star Wars. In season one, all animation studios came from Japan, but this time Disney has cast a wider net. Because in season two every continent is represented. Visions is outside of the substantial existing canon of Star Wars. That means the studios behind each episode can let their imagination run wild.

A great opportunity to broach themes and stories that have no place within the mainstream Star Wars series and films. Last season often returned Star Wars to its Kurosawa roots. What special will we be treated to this time? The nine episodes of season two can be streamed from May 4. Check out the trailer to get a taste of Star Wars Visions Season 2.

What exactly is quantum technology? Something about superpositions? Isn’t that what all superheroes assume in their reveal shots? Actually, quantum is mainly another word for pure magic and so you wonder why we don’t see the theme in Marvel movies anymore. In the third Ant-man film starring the always funny Paul Rudd, Ant-man explores a secret world hidden within the fabric of our own universe. Get ready for the ever-spectacular special effects that have become synonymous with Marvel and a supporting cast that includes: Evangeline Lilly (The Hobbit trilogy) Bill Murray (National Lampoon, Ghost Busters and many more) and Michelle Pfeiffer (Batman Returns) .

Marvel has become a habit of providing their films with a great soundtrack. This time too, they know how to dust off exactly the right iconic record from earlier times that will haunt your mind for weeks after seeing the film. This time it’s Goodbye Yellow Brick Road by Elton John, so you’re already prepared for it. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania drops May 17. Check out the trailer below.

Freely translated, Mayhem means disorder, but really of the highest order. Besides that, also the essence of the Muppets band. The full name is Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, a completely real, totally non-fictional band that absolutely exists in our reality. These fuzzy rockers have inspired quite a few music legends, such as Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee, country legend Chris Stapleton and currently hugely popular rapper Lil Nas X (known for his cover of Old Town Road). Only these music gods have overlooked one thing, they have never recorded an album. In their own words, they were… distracted by the 80s.

In this documentary you get to see how Mayhem still tries to make an album. Meanwhile, the muppets themselves, but also the above-mentioned and many more musicians have their say. Weird All, Ziggy Marley, but also actors like Danny Trejo, Kevin Smith. All their lives have been touched by the funky tunes of Dr. Teeth and his band mates. You can see how the hell it all turned out this way on May 10 on Disney +. Watch the trailer below.
