LastPass Hack: Are Your Passwords Still Safe?
The LastPass app is an easy way to manage all your passwords. You no longer have to remember all individual passwords yourself and the app can even come up with a super strong password for you. Handy, right?
However, when there has been a hack at LastPass, things get dangerous. After all, if someone has access to your account, all your passwords are at risk. Or not?
In a recent LastPass hack, attackers gained access to a third-party cloud storage service that uses LastPass. According to the company, the hacker gained access to “certain customer data.”
It is striking that the passwords app was also involved in a hack in August. Here malicious parties had gained access to the data by means of a developer account. No customer data was stolen, but quite a bit of technical information.
LastPass does not want to clarify what data (or passwords) was stolen in the recent hack. The company is currently conducting an investigation. According to LastPass, the passwords are all securely encrypted. However, we recommend that you change your LastPass account master password again just to be on the safe side.
