Netflix will compete with Apple Fitness+ from December 30, 2022
Netflix has just announced the arrival of the Nike Training Club program, which allows you to exercise at home with the help of a coach, within its catalog. Starting December 30, dozens of videos from the program will be broadcast on the platform, without requiring a subscription to the Nike application. Perfect for getting back in shape after Christmas.
Netflix no longer hides its ambitions to impose itself in various fields. No longer confined to films and series, the streaming giant is now turning to video games and, soon, sports. Indeed, the firm published a blog post yesterday announcing the arrival of several dozen episodes of Nike Training Club, an application for exercising at home.
Great news for Netflix subscribers looking to get into the sport, as the app subscription costs €10 per month. Netflix, for its part, will of course offer these videos “free of charge” in its catalog. The first salvo will be broadcast from December 30, before a second batch arrives on the platform in 2023.

Netflix wants you to exercise after the holidays
The episodes will be divided into various categories, as follows:
- Fitness Basics — 13 episodes
- 2 weeks of bodybuilding — 7 episodes
- Discover Vinyasa Yoga — 6 episodes
- HIT and Reinforcement with Tara — 14 episodes
- Wellness Fitness — 6 episodes
The videos each consist of a sports lesson led by a specialized teacher, who indicates the movements and exercises to be performed. In this sense, the resemblance to the Apple Fitness+ program, available in France for just over a year, is striking. If Netflix wants to position itself quite clearly against the Cupertino company in this sector, their content is nevertheless not aimed at the same target.
Indeed, where Apple Fitness+ offers various tracking features, in particular through the use of an Apple Watch, Netflix is content to broadcast the videos. In other words, the content is more aimed at occasional athletes, who do not yet want to pay for a gym membership and prefer to start quietly. Like, for example, to get back in shape after the holiday season.
