Netflix: the subscription with advertising has nearly 5 million users
Netflix communicates the number of users who have taken the subscription including advertisements. There are nearly 5 million people with this formula which debuted six months ago.
Greg Peters, co-CEO of Netflix, revealed the data at the Upfront conference. He says subscription with advertising has nearly 5 million users and that the number of subscribers has more than doubled since the beginning of the year. He added that the average age of the subscriber to this formula is 34 years old.
The manager also said that more than 25% of new subscribers choose the formula with advertising in countries where it is available (such as France). He also claimed that viewer engagement on ad-supported tiers mirrors engagement levels seen on ad-free accounts.
“The signals are promising: the engagement on our offer with advertising is similar to that of our comparable offers without advertising”, said Greg Peters during the presentation. “It’s essential, because everything starts and ends with consumers. This is why, despite all the competition, Netflix is the most popular streaming service today”.
As a reminder, the subscription has recently seen an improvement, namely support for 1080p (Full HD), instead of 720p (HD) initially. The gain was made at no additional cost. The offer costs €5.99/month.
