Netflix is lowering its prices in these countries
Many streaming services have recently implemented a price increase, but things can also be done differently. Netflix proves this with a reduction in its subscription prices in more than 30 countries.
Netflix price cut
Netflix works hard to retain its subscribers. For example, the streaming service has announced a cheaper subscription with advertising, but on the other hand, the company will tackle account sharing with people outside the family this year. According to The Wall Street Journal, Netflix made a price cut on Wednesday. The price reduction will be implemented in 30 countries in the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Asia. Shareholders were not happy with this decision. The stock fell nearly 5 percent on Thursday.

The new prices apply in these countries for the Basic, Standard and Premium plans and the discounts range from 13 to 60 percent. For some subscriptions, that is more than a halving. Research firm Ampere Analysis indicates that more than 10 million of the more than 230 million Netlix subscribers will receive a price reduction. Netflix offers subscriptions in the Netherlands for € 7.99, € 11.99 and € 15.99 per month. These rates have been in effect since October 2021. The cheaper subscription with advertising is not yet available here. Our country is also not in the overview with price reductions.
Netflix managed to win about 7.6 million subscribers in the fourth quarter after losing a lot of subscribers to Paramount + and Disney + in the first half of 2022, among others.
