Netflix has great news for all One Piece fans
One Piece is getting a live-action series – that was announced back in 2020. Now, almost two years later, filming begins and Netflix is even giving fans the first pictures.
Netflix: One Piece becomes reality
One Peace’s great journey began in 1997 with a successful manga series by Japanese mangaka Eiichirō Oda. Shortly thereafter, the anime series was created, which has been flickering on screens worldwide ever since. One Piece is now one of the best-known and most popular franchises – no wonder there’s even a live-action adaptation to follow.
This was commissioned by the streaming giant Netflix and announced that filming has started. Tomorrow Studios is in charge of production, with Steven Maeda (X-Files, Lost) slipping into the role of showrunner.
According to the website What’s on Netflix, the majority of the series will be filmed at Cape Town Film Studios in South Africa, and it is intended to be already built three pirate ships for the live-action adaptation have been. The first pictures of it have already been leaked on Twitter.
One Piece: When is the series due to start on Netflix?
