Netflix comes with a new cool Dutch series
The streaming service Netflix has high expectations of the new Dutch series. There’s a teaser you can watch right now.
When you think of a Dutch series on Netflix, you almost automatically think of Undercover. But now the streaming service comes with a new series that is produced in the Netherlands. The series has ‘Dirty Lines’ and should at least match the success of Undercover.
New Dutch Netflix series
The series is about a real Dutch subject, namely the rise of sex lines. That happened in the eighties, when the hippie life flourished. Living and thinking freely, but also the drugs that came with it.
Netflix says that ‘The Dirty Lines story begins in Amsterdam in 1987, a time when Dutch society was changing rapidly. Psychology student Marly Salomon (Joy Delima) starts with a side job at a brand new company: Teledutch. The telecom company, founded by brothers Frank (Minne Koole) and Ramon Stigter (Chris Peters), is Europe’s first sex line company. In no time Frank and Ramon are making money like water and Marly is completely sucked into this wild and fast transformation. The final years of the Cold War gave hope and inspired a new generation to celebrate life exuberantly. Amsterdam became the epicenter of this cultural revolution that introduced house music and the new love drug XTC. The sex lines offered a new way to experience sex anonymously, changing not only the morale of the consumers, but above all that of their creators.’
When to see?
We have to wait another month for the series. It will be on Netflix on April 8. You can expect well-known names to play in it, such as Abbey Hoes and Benja Bruijning.
