My favorite Apple product in 2022: the AirPods Pro

Apple Product of the Year: AirPods Pro
I use the AirPods Pro almost every day. And you read that right: it concerns the first generation AirPods Pro. The AirPods Pro were launched at the end of 2019 and are still excellent earphones after three years.
Noise cancellation was also introduced with the new high-end version of the AirPods. This is still one of my favorite features: being on a crowded train or plane is much more bearable now. The noise reduction is also the big difference with the first generation AirPods. With the AirPods 1, you have to turn up the music reasonably loud in a busy room if you want to get something from the music. With the AirPods Pro, this problem was solved.
Moreover, the fit of the AirPods Pro is incredibly comfortable, thanks in part to the different sizes that you receive with the earphones. The silicone fits ensure that the AirPods Pro fit perfectly in your ears, even during exercise. It is precisely this wearing comfort that ensures that I like to wear the earphones and often: you often do not notice that you have them on. In the meantime I can do other things, such as sports or cleaning up at home. The wireless earphones are therefore very handy.
First generation AirPods Pro: the best earphones at the time
At the launch of the AirPods Pro, Apple promised that the sound quality of the AirPods Pro would be better than ever. The Adaptive EQ equalizer automatically tunes low and mid frequencies, immersing the listener in the music. In addition, the newly designed amplifier provides a wide dynamic range and clear sound.
The first generation AirPods Pro can be operated via the pressure-sensitive sensor on the end of the earbuds. This allows you to play and pause music, skip tracks or take phone calls, or turn down. In addition, it is possible to switch between the different audio modes with this control.
The AirPods Pro therefore have the – now no longer so new – noise reduction and transparency mode. As soon as you turn on the transparency mode, you can continue to listen to music, but also hear background noise. This is useful (and safe) when you use the AirPods Pro in traffic, for example.
The AirPods Pro vs. the AirPods Pro 2
This year, Apple introduced the successor to the first-generation AirPods Pro. The AirPods Pro 2 are very similar in design to the first-generation AirPods Pro, but have been overhauled on the inside. The new AirPods Pro are equipped with the new H2 chip, which has given the noise reduction a significant upgrade.
The active noise reduction in particular has improved with the AirPods Pro 2. The H2 chip analyzes the ambient noise and adjusts the amount of noise reduction accordingly. The operation has also been upgraded: the AirPods Pro 2 now have touch control in the handle. With this you can now, among other things, adjust the volume by swiping over the stem.
The AirPods Pro 2 are therefore technically a worthy successor to the first-generation AirPods Pro, but are still somewhat behind in terms of design. That is exactly why I have not switched to the AirPods Pro 2 yet: the design is expected to be significantly overhauled with the AirPods Pro 3. The third generation AirPods Pro is expected to have no stems and a new way of operate. So worth the wait.
The lifespan of the first generation AirPods Pro is a big plus in my opinion, because they still last well after three years. This, together with the wearing comfort and the good sound quality, makes the AirPods Pro my favorite product from Apple again this year.
