‘My child will have another one in a few weeks’

Does your little pre-puber already appear to be a true swinger or does your toddler fall in love with her older brother? It’s something: that puppy love.

Jo (39) is single mother of Shara (20) and Jay (6).

“My son has been dating Jolene since the beginning of this school year. She is in fifth grade, he is in third grade. During the breaks they always play together. And recently Jay proudly came home with a homemade beaded necklace from Jolene. Between the nose and lips, Jay said last week that Jolene wanted to kiss him. He wasn’t in the mood for that. I laughed and told him not to do it. I don’t take it all that seriously. It’s just puppy love. He will have another one in a few weeks.”

Polyamorous toddler

Ingrid (33) is married to James (34) and mother of Chris (3).

“My son has two girlfriends at the nursery. When he sees them, they immediately fly around his neck. The girls look very jealous at each other when the other gets attention. Chris’s preference lies with one of the two, but he only says that at home. At the shelter he loves them both equally and I always find that so cute.”

Brotherly love

Kim (37) is married to Coen (37) and mother of Mees (7) and Evi (5).

“My daughter is in love with my son. They are fourteen months apart and Mees has really been her big, protective brother from the birth of Evi, but Evi is increasingly shouting that she will marry him later. And Mees thinks it’s all fine, because a while ago he even asked her to marry him – albeit at the urgent request of his sister.

All super cute, but sometimes I think: isn’t this a bit crazy? I was never that way with my brothers. Oh well, it will probably blow over on its own. It will take a while, but once they hit puberty, they probably don’t need to know anything about each other anymore.”

Big heart, big house

Felicia (33) is single mother of Lexie (8) and Brody (4).

“Lexie is dating three boys from her class. They know about each other and are all fine with it. I think it’s a fun bunch. Although the boys don’t tell their parents about it, Lexie talks about her boyfriends at home. When I recently asked how she was going to do all that with all those men, she responded very nonchalantly. “Oh that’s easy, then we’ll all just get married and live in one big house.” Haha, great isn’t it?”
