Music Time Travel is time travel with a good soundtrack

There are so many new apps with to-do lists or notes: sometimes you need an app that is mainly pure entertainment. If you love music, then we have just the app for you. This week in the App of the Week we discuss: Rewind: Music Time Travel.

Rewind: Music Time Travel

For everyone who likes to play the very entertaining card game Hitster, this is an app that will make you even better at this game. Rewind: Music Time Travel is an app in which you can make a kind of time travel through the music. The time machine is somewhat limited: it can only go back to the years between 1959 and 2010. It is also very fond of rock music, but that is not surprising in itself. It is not for nothing that there is always a lot of rock music in the Top 2000: that has really dominated the charts for decades.

We can’t really blame the app either, as it’s completely free to use. You don’t get to see ads all the time or get pushed that you have to pay to access more information in the app. None of that at all. So what’s the catch? That is that the app was created in collaboration with Tidal. Although that streaming service is very good, it is not the most used streaming service. So there are links to all kinds of things in Tidal, but you have to manually look up a song in Spotify yourself.

Music through the years

Fortunately, there is also a lot to experience in the app itself, without links. For example, there is a kind of music quest in which you have to look for a certain artist, track or record on the basis of a few written hints, sound fragments and other descriptions. Very nicely done and we hope that this will be updated frequently. Yet it is mainly an app to experience a certain year in music. The death of Michael Jackson is mentioned, but also the fact that it was still a party year in 1987, before the stock markets crashed hard. You can also listen to a lot of music in the app itself, so that you are taken back to that particular year. Very nicely done and the app also looks tip-top in terms of design. Made very impressive.
