Motorola presents new concept smartphone with rollable screen

We already saw that LG was developing a smartphone with a rollable screen. Motorola now also shows a smartphone with such a type of screen. How does that work, and what are the advantages of this technique?

A phone that you can roll up. We saw this before with LG, which applied this to its own concept smartphone; the LG Rollable. Oppo has also shown a smartphone with a rollable screen. This smartphone was never released. Motorola is now in the news with its own rolled-up smartphone. The brand will do so at its own Lenovo Tech World 2022 conference. You can roll out the Oppo and the LG horizontally, the Motorola takes a different approach.

The concept smartphone that has not yet been given an (official) name is growing vertically. The screen size is 5.0 inches by default, but when rolled out it will increase to 6.5 inches. This makes it more compact when the device is not in use. Aspect ratio information is not shared. In addition, it is unknown whether Motorola has a definitive plan to release the smartphone, or whether it will remain a concept. We see it more and more, so there is certainly a chance that a manufacturer will release a rollable smartphone.
