Mother asking for help on Facebook receives heartwarming responses

In a Facebook group – which was created at the beginning of this year – a young mother from Alphen aan de Rijn asks for help: ‘I don’t feel well. Unfortunately I neglected myself on personal hygiene.’ The reactions she gets are unexpected and heartwarming.

In ‘I help you (Alphen aan den Rijn)’ Alphen residents ask for help via Facebook or offer it. A young and especially ‘sad mother’ asks for clothes. She says that she only has one pair of trousers and a few sweaters left, and that despite the beautiful weather, she is still walking around in her winter coat to disguise this.

“I waited a while before I dared to press enter to post my message. Given the reactions, I’m glad I did it,” she says a few days after her call.

Special offer

The reactions are pouring in, including that of Jessica Zeevaart. She finds it a harrowing story and wants to help her fellow villagers, including this mother. That is why she is offering something special: the mother can choose clothes for a hundred euros from Zalando, she pays. Zeevaart says: “If you wear something new, you feel much better, don’t you?” The clothes that have been ordered will soon be delivered to the young mother’s home. And she is very happy with that, because it is right on time for her birthday: “It really feels like a birthday present.”

Easy to judge

About the help she offers, Zeevaart says: “I found her story touching and if I can help, why shouldn’t I. I have the book From millionaire to paperboy read, all stories about people who have less to spend due to various circumstances. Which they often can do nothing about. It is always so easy to judge, while we can also do something for someone else.”

Don’t dare to dream

In addition to Zeevaart, others are also helping the young mother, for example by donating clothes. Also let someone know that they are giving a haircut as a gift. “My children always come first, I always come last. I never expected this, I always wondered if I was the only one walking around in such clothes. I would not have dared to dream that there are people with such a good heart.” The reactions therefore cause tears for the mother from Alphen.
