more than half watch streaming services via Chromecast
You can access streaming services in a number of ways, but our readers do so for the most part with a Chromecast or a Chromecast with Google TV. 56 percent indicate that they watch streaming services in this way.
Chromecast
You can stream movies and series in countless ways to your TV or watch on your TV via streaming services. You can use apps on your TV, but also apps on your game console, Roku, Amazon Fire TV and so on. But there’s one way that stands head and shoulders above the rest: Chromecast.
In our AW Poll this week, we asked which streaming device you use, and a whopping 31 percent choose to Netflix via a Chromecast and 25 percent use the Chromecast with Google TV (which seems to have a new one in the works). In addition, quite a lot of readers also watch via their NVIDIA Shield TV: 12 percent use that device to watch streaming services. Few people choose Roku or a games console (less than one percent) and only 2 percent choose Apple TV and 2 percent Amazon Fire TV. There is still 5 percent who use Xiaomi Mi TV.
Apps on the smart TV
In addition, there is quite a number of people who use their smart TV. The apps on TV are nice and easy to select with the buttons on your remote control, although searching can be a pain. 16 percent of the people who completed the poll choose the apps on television to watch streaming services. Finally, 4 percent say ‘different’.
Shogun is very pleased with the Mi Box from Xiaomi. “Some wishes I had when purchasing: Android TV certified, remote control, connectivity options (USB, Toslink), < €100. Finally bought the Mi Boxs for € 45 at a Chinese webshop. After a year of use, it turned out to be an excellent choice.” Nobody uses a different device, but is considering an upgrade: “Nvidia Shield since 2015 (so first gen). Although it still works perfectly and still gets software updates, it is time for a REAL new Nvidia Shield.”
We are very curious why Nobody wants to go for a ‘REAL’ new one. Next week we will serve up a new poll. Until then!
