more than half of readers wear a smartwatch
We write a lot about phones here at Androidworld, but wearables are also regularly featured. From a slightly simpler fitness tracker to a sports watch with GPS, or a complete smartwatch. They are handy, you hardly realize you are wearing them and you have a lot of information just on your wrist. Many readers, too, according to the poll. 57 percent wear a smartwatch.
Wearables are popular
One reads his WhatsApp messages on it, the other uses it to do breathing exercises against stress. Wearables are often at home in all markets. Many diet and sports apps can sync with, for example, a Fitbit and if you look at a Garmin smartwatch, you can often count on extensive data about your sports performance. Many smartwatches also help monitor the quality of your sleep, allowing you to make adjustments in your life to wake up better rested.
It appears from the answers to the AW Poll that Androidworld readers are mainly smartwatch wearers. 57 percent say they wear a smartwatch, while 17 percent opt for a sports watch and 12 for a fitness tracker. T_Scheen does have a very special item on its wrist: the LED Binary Watch. “Everything but ‘smart’, but it makes you smart by having to calculate 🙂 And a battery lasts 5 years.” What a special device!
Whoever wants it will buy it
It is also striking that people who want a wearable have apparently already bought it, because less than 1 percent now do not have a wearable but are considering getting a fitness tracker or sports watch, while only 4 percent do not have a wearable but are considering a smartwatch. We also have some more classic men and women among us, as 6 percent use an analog watch.
Parrot01 for example: “Give me a classic watch. Much more beautiful.” Franciskine shares that opinion: “I am a watch collector, I already have way too many…..no more I-watches, I won’t start with that anymore…” 3 percent don’t want one to: they don’t want to wear electronic wearables or watches at all.
Too sporty?
Then there is also a point of annoyance, which is that it often revolves around sports and health. Karel-willem says: “A Mi Band 6. But I refuse to call it a ‘sports watch’ or ‘fitness tracker’. 😄Nowadays you can apparently only wear such a thing on your wrist if you are involved with sports and your health 24/7.” Cyclon agrees: “Indeed. A lot of sport or fitness does not come in handy for me. It’s more like a mini timepiece on which I can also see incoming messages.”
In short, we are not surprised that so many people wear a wearable: you can go in all directions with it. And they often even register which side, with their GPS!
See you next week, because then we will present you a new AW Poll. Until then!
