more than 100 million Tikkies sent and paid

We do massive sharing of an account, which the other person can then transfer quickly and easily. This is made possible by means of a Payment Request or a Tikkie. ABN Amro reports that more than 100 million Tikkies have now been sent.

100 million Tikkies

The number of Tikkies sent and paid is now 100 million. ABN Amro, the bank behind payment service Tikkie, reports this to the Telegraaf. Tikkie is a word that we all often use in our country, to make the other a payment. The advantage of using Tikkie is that after paying, the amount is immediately on the other person’s account. The service was released by the bank in 2016, and many banks now have their own alternative, such as ING’s Payment Requests.

In 2021, according to De Telegraaf, we paid each other 4.2 billion euros, with the average amount coming out at €38.74, which is three euros higher than last year. One in three Tikkies, about 37 percent, is fixed within five minutes. The most frequently mentioned descriptions are groceries or food. The busiest days were June 28 and 25. On those days, the Netherlands came out of the lockdown and the Dutch national team played the eighth final of the World Cup.
