According to new rumors, the mixed reality headset will have an interface that is somewhat similar to iOS. This means that Apple’s glasses will have many functions that you also know from the iPhone and iPad.

VR as an external screen for your Mac

Bloomberg goes on to say that the mixed reality headset can be used as an external display for a connected Mac. You can then view the Mac’s screen in VR and then control it with your real mouse and keyboard.

Apps and App Store

The mixed reality headset will also receive various apps. Rumored to include Safari, Photos, Mail, Messages, Apple Music, Calendar, and more. Of course, the headset also has its own App Store.

Of course Siri is also there to give voice commands. You can also use an iPhone, iPad, or Mac keyboard to type commands. Apple is also rumored to be working on a way to type in the air, but that feature probably won’t be ready with the release of the mixed reality headset.

Hand and eye tracking

Other key features of the mixed reality headset will be hand and eye tracking. The cameras in the glasses can then ‘see’ where you hold your hands and show them in the right place in VR. According to Bloomberg, you can then look at a menu in VR and use hand gestures to make a choice. Unlike other headsets, Apple will not use controllers.

Developers are already working on mixed reality headset

Developers can already get started with Apple’s mixed reality headset, according to reliable Apple expert Mark Gurman. He emphasizes that this is still a prototype, the development team still needs a lot of time to complete the product.

There is a disadvantage to the development of AR / VR glasses. Apple puts a lot of development time into the mixed reality headset and its features. That’s why Gurman doesn’t expect major updates to other Apple devices this year.
