Microsoft has something new for you: Loop

Microsoft

The company introduces Microsoft Loop. A collaboration app between the company’s various functions and systems.

Microsoft Loop, so it has. It is a new Office collaboration app announced yesterday. It takes the company’s Fluid Framework vision one step further. Previously, this way of working together has already been presented at the most recent developer event. So now it’s time to present Microsoft Loop as the future.

So it’s a way of collaborating on specific pieces. For example, a chart or table, synced across multiple Office apps. You create that table in Outlook, but it is also immediately updated if someone puts it in a Word document and adds new information. Earlier we saw that this was only used as a kind of test in Office online. With Microsoft Loop, the company is taking a much bigger step in document collaboration.

Like the Fluid Framework, one of the core components of the new app is Loop Components. Which Microsoft calls “atomic units of productivity.” They can contain anything from a list to a complex Dynamics 365 project, all of which are in sync when deployed to Office apps.

There is also Loop Workspaces, a way to view components and pages related to specific projects. According to Microsoft, “Workspaces make it easy for you to keep track of what everyone is working on, respond to others’ ideas, or track progress toward shared goals.”

The company says it will share more information in the coming months. You can expect Loop components to come to Teams, Outlook, OneNote, and other Microsoft 365 apps later this month.
