Meta launches 2 apps for team work: you need to know this

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has released two new experimental apps. The first ‘Recess’ connects colleagues in the workplace from a distance. The second ‘Move’ helps people to work together and divide tasks.

Move to-do lists

Meta is of course known for services such as Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, but at the same time the company is also working on new projects to discover the next gap in the market. In 2019, the company set up its New Product Experimentation (NPE) team for this purpose. Google has a similar team called Area 120. Two years ago, it launched a new social network for short tutorial videos.

Meta’s NPE team is now releasing two apps, Product Hunt knows. First of all, there is Move, an app aimed at students or anyone who works in a group. You can easily make joint to-do lists. When you complete tasks, you will receive a reward in the form of points. You can use this to personalize your avatar – a llama – with accessories. In this way you also indirectly see who is the most and least productive in the group. The app is available for free in the US, where it is currently only available on iOS. It is not known whether Meta has plans to roll out them more widely.

Recession Team Building

Furthermore, Meta also released Recess. The app is aimed at teams that often work remotely and therefore do not have the opportunity to really get to know each other well. Recess wants to tackle that problem. Everyone is presented with a series of questions about themselves and after they are answered, the app shares what you have in common with your group members. The service also includes mini-games that allow you to compete in real-time and remotely. Recess is a tool that is part of Slack, a popular communication platform for teams.
