Messenger and Instagram already support joint group conversations

Company Facebook has been trying to connect their applications for a long time Messenger, Instagram a WhatsApp. In the case of the first two now according to the portal PhoneArena starts joint group conversations.

While Messenger is the original Facebook service, it bought Instagram in 2012 for $ 1 billion as one of the most popular iOS applications. The original application, which was intended only for photo sharing, gradually became a full-fledged social network.

Because Instagram has been integrated with chat functions for a long time, Facebook is trying to connect it with its other communication applications – Messenger and WhatsApp. Some users can even write across these platforms and, after the new one, will be able to use group conversations between Instagram and Messenger.

They simply create a new group in Instagram and invite contacts from Messenger to it. The typing indicator will also appear in the group conversation, so they can see which person is typing. The advantage of this connection is mainly that due to a few friends, the user does not have to have an application installed, which he practically does not use.

In Instagram, we should see the addition of a function to create polls in group conversations, as Messenger has been allowing for a long time. Another change in Instagram is to rename the Close Friends section to Selected Friends.

It is not yet known when the feature will be available globally

The question is when the new feature will reach all users, as even basic communication between two users of these platforms is not yet globally available. Facebook would also like to connect its social network with Instagram at the next level.

In the US, it is already launching the ability to watch Reels videos from Instagram directly on the social network Facebook, and IGTV content should also be available. However, traditional posts should continue to be visible only on individual platforms. A complete interconnection would probably disrupt their different philosophy.
