The Berichtenbox app has been updated. It is important to note that this is the latest version you can use with older phones.

With the Berichtenbox app, users can read government mail directly in the app and no longer need to log in to the PC via MijnOverheid. It is also possible to forward mail from the app to another e-mail address. Logging in to the app has been done via the DigiD app since 2020.
This Message Box app has now received an update bringing the version number to 2.3.0. The makers of the app indicate that they have made various technical improvements. In addition, they indicate that the app will no longer work with phones that run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The government advises users with these obsolete devices to upgrade to a newer Android version. We advise you to upgrade to a device with at least Android 10, with Android 11 being the best choice.
Android 6 was officially released on October 5, 2015. How many phones and tablets still run on this Android version is unknown. Google has also stopped publishing distribution figures for quite some time. In the latest distribution figures in which Android 6 was included, it can be noted that this version was still available on about 16.9 percent of active Android devices at the time. These figures are from 2019, so that percentage will most likely have decreased.
