‘Men don’t feel heard when there is unwanted childlessness’
And that’s for good reason, because research by Freya, the association for people with fertility problems, shows that no less than 96 percent of men who have to deal with unwanted childlessness experience that there is too little attention for the man’s perspective.
‘Another world to win’
70 percent of men feel they are on the sidelines of the fertility process. In addition, 52 percent feel insufficiently involved in the conversations with the doctor. Talk about it openly? This proves difficult for many men: 78 percent indicate that there is a taboo on unwanted childlessness. ‘Men benefit from an open discussion about the theme and making this issue a topic for discussion’, says Freya. ‘We still have a world to win on all fronts when it comes to the position of men in the fertility process.’
