The successor iPhone SE is already planned for 2024. According to the latest rumors, this iPhone SE 4 may get an OLED screen.

iPhone SE 4 gets an OLED screen (or not)

There are already several rumors about the iPhone SE 4. This new version of the budget iPhone gets the look of the iPhone XR. However, that is not entirely certain, says the usually well-informed Ross Young.

According to him, Apple is not quite sure what kind of screen they want to use for the iPhone SE 4. He believes that Apple is still considering different types of screens. There are two manufacturers of a 6.1-inch display (OLED) that Apple still has in its sights. In addition, two other manufacturers of LCD screens (5.7-inch to 6.1-inch) are also under consideration.

It is not yet known exactly which one it will be. Because of this, it is also not certain what screen the iPhone SE 4 will get. So this could be a premium 6.1-inch OLED screen. But it could well be an LCD screen again. In comparison, the iPhone SE 2022 has a 4.7-inch LCD display.

Since the iPhone 12, almost all iPhones have an OLED screen, except for the iPhone SE line-up. The OLED panels may have become a bit cheaper that Apple is now considering giving the budget iPhone such a display.

If the iPhone SE 4 gets an OLED screen, this has advantages. For example, an OLED screen is more energy-efficient and black on the screen is really black. You also get better contrast with an OLED screen.
